Career Speech Criteria and Outline
This speech will incorporate informative and persuasive elements and help you communicate why you want to work this job and why you are a great fit for this job.
You will give a 5-7 minute Career Speech that gives the audience new information on a career that you are interested in.
The first main point should be what your career is about
Second main point should be why you want to go into that career.
The third main point will be a persuasive main point on why the company should hire you.
You will need to incorporate 2 different outside sources for your research.
These sources will need to be audibly cited in your speech (said out loud) during your recorded presentation.
You will cite your outside source when you use the information from the source in your first main point.
Using a visual aid (5 slides max, not including blank slides, 5 points for visual aid) (Google slides, share with me your slides and I’ll have it opened on class computer, you can hook up your own computer)
You will receive extra credit for Above Average Attire (Professional business attire, dressed for a job interview), Loss of Points for Inadequate Attire (t-shirt, informal casual attire).
Your outline submission should be in extemporaneous outline format.
There should be no paragraphs on your outline, but paraphrased sub points and sub sub points so you can practice your conversational delivery.
Please make sure your outlines are thorough and provide enough description and information as if someone who never heard your speech could understand your topic.
Be sure to add substantial supporting material such as diagrams, analogies, explanations, illustrations, etc.
