There is no such thing as a perfect early childhood teacher; rather, only individual teachers with varying degrees of competence exist. Teacher training should magnify strengths and produce teachers who differ greatly. Celebrate your uniqueness! You may offer children what others cannot. Your weakness may be anothers strength, their weakness your strength. Feel middle of the road in everything? The middle of the road may provide stability, safety, familiarity, and comfortable homeyness. However, all teachers MUST be knowledgeable about and sensitive to the cultural milestones related to childrens development and childrens awareness of attitudes about race and culture.
