Represent the argument from passage in standard form using the Represent the argument from passage in standard form using the General Form of Argument from Principle1. The Ashley Treatment is often maligned and viewed as obviously wrong, but this is misguided. Parents who choose it for their severely disabled children are doing it out of love for their child. They choose it to prevent the child from having serious discomfort from period pains, pressure sores, and other things they are incapable of alerting their parents to. They choose it so that the childs care is manageable at home and they can stay with the people who love them rather than go to an institution or group home. They choose it so that the child (who would otherwise grow to be very large and incapable of moving on their own) can continue to be a part of all the activities the family does together. None of these motivations are selfish; on the contrary, they are done out of love. Thats why the Ashley Treatment should be allowed as an option. Hospitals should allow parents to elect procedures that are motivated by love and care for the well-being of their child.Arts & Humanities Philosophy PHIL 1722
