The project is not only design and simulation, it included now lab test as well. I did two designs( old and new design by solidworks) I printed them out by 3D printing. you can see them as STL and SLDPRT files uploaded for the new and old design. after that I did the lab test on the old and new design, I collected the data by using (anemometer, multimeter and 12v DC motor). I put the data that i collected in excel file under name (Expriment2) and you will find tables and graphs please use them in the project. then we will calculate : Efficiency and Coefficient of Power.the design simulation of the turbine and will involve testing various parameters to optimize the design for maximum efficiency.
explaining the experiment, [(To conduct an experiment on a Savonius wind turbine by pointing the air at angles of 45, 90, and 135 degrees, you will need the following materials:
Materials:
Savonius wind turbine Fan or blower Protractor or angle measuring tool Voltmeter or multimeter Stopwatch or timer Data recording sheet
Procedure:
1. Set up the Savonius wind turbine on a flat surface.
2. Connect the turbine to the voltmeter or multimeter to measure the voltage output.
3. Place the fan or blower at a distance from the turbine, and adjust it to blow air at a specific angle of 45, 90, or 135 degrees.
4. Turn on the fan or blower and start the timer.
5. Record the voltage output of the turbine for a set period of time (e.g., 1 minute) using the data recording sheet.
6. Repeat steps 4 times for each angle of 45, 90, and 135 degrees WITH different speed.
7. Analyze the data collected and compare the voltage output for each angle.)].
At the end I calculated the efficency(BUT I am not sure if I used the correct formula and if I got the correct anser for the Cofficent of power(cp) please check my solutions). so I found that The experiments conducted showed that the modified Savonius wind turbine had a higher rotational speed, and power output than the original Savonius wind turbine.
The results of our experiments indicate that the new modifications made to the Savonius wind turbine design were successful in increasing its efficiency.
Now I want you to write 3 pages descripting about the experiment and compare it with the CFD results that you found. also please do test the old design on the CFD if it to support the project and the results. you will find it under file name (Old design SLD) solidworks file.
