Visual abstracts are one way to convent scientific content in a way that is native to social media. Studies (mainly from medicine) show that when visual abstracts are created and tweeted out, the traffic to the actual article increases tremendously. Main components of a visual abstract include:
Title of the Social Justice Paper key question/social injustice that is being addressed
A summary of the Social Justice Paper outcomes
Visual display of outcomes
Statistics or data to support outcomes
Your visual abstract should depict a summary of your social justice issue and proposed solution, with support from relevant literature and data as highlighted in your paper. In addition to the visual abstract, a brief voiceover should accompany the document to briefly explain your topic, present relevant information in order to understand the topic, and why you chose the issue of focus. The corresponding voiceover should not exceed 10 minutes.
PowerPoint should be used to create your abstract with a recording on the slide. If you wish to use other software or applications, then use Zoom to record your voiceover. The abstract should be one-page, landscape orientation. Remember, the goal of the assignment is to use images, figures, and graphics.
